In 1999 we conducted a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of the software in improving physicians' performance. Twenty primary care physicans practicing in a large health maintenance organization or a city health clinic participated.

When evaluating lesions without the software, physicians made the wrong management decision 36.7% of the time. This error rate reduced to 13.3% when physicians used eDerm to evaluate the lesions.
